The Federation of Electronic Sports and the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education signed a memorandum of cooperation on Wednesday before the panel discussion held at this higher education institution. This very memorandum according to the words Filip Šoć, president of SESVG, will improve the care of e-sportsmen, while the Faculty will be able to be among the first in the world to conduct scientific research on the subject of e-sports.

Filip, a few days ago a memorandum was signed on the cooperation of the Electronic Sports Association with the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education. How much does this cooperation mean to SESCG?

This cooperation means a lot for SESCG as well as for AEF, because we are the first in the region to initiate this type of cooperation. It already exists to a large extent in countries such as America, Russia, China, Japan, Indonesia and the like. I think this is a good starting point to create a real ecosystem of e-sports as all sports have, and maybe some level above. We are realistically starting from the very beginning and that is good for both sides, because by working together we can create something that the whole of Europe can use tomorrow.

Professors at the Faculty of Sports and Culture are also very focused on science and research. Given that there are not many scientific works and research on e-sports even at the world level, will a new one emerge from this cooperation?

First of all, there are very few scientific papers and theses in the world of e-Sproto, and it is a big problem to support all the facts that are being talked about. I think that any research that we conduct together will contribute, not only to the development of e-sports and other sports in Montenegro, but they will also be able to be used at the global level. I hope for good cooperation and a large number of joint research and projects.

It is generally the opinion not only of the majority of physical education teachers, but also of people in general that e-athletes are not physically active. However, professional e-athletes have a completely different way of life - training, physical activity, a special diet plan compared to gamers who often spend several hours at a computer, console or phone. When we learn to differentiate between an eSports player and a gamer, will we understand the industry better?

Screen time is not the problem of the gaming industry. The time spent in front of the screen playing games occupies the least percentage. Much more there are social networks and many things that are marketed on them. And we will try to work together to promote healthy lifestyles and at least the part that we occupy as an industry, to promote young people to have as much physical activity and playing sports as possible. As for professional players, they have their own coaches, therapists and everything that traditional athletes have, because the more they take care of their body and physical fitness, the longer their career will last. Honestly, you should first of all take care of the problems caused by screen addiction and limit it to children, and when they use it, they should use it for useful things, such as learning, acquiring new skills, or something related to the sport they play. Because useless spending time in front of the screen could be used for the very progress of young people and their rapid development, only if it is used correctly.
