It may be a relatively light year for Marvel on the film and TV front, but fans of the franchise can always count on plenty of new material to read. All eyes are on the X-Men line in 2024, as Marvel ends one great era of the franchise and begins a new one, writes the IGN portal.

Five years after dramatically reshaping the X-Men line with 2019's House of X and Powers of X, Marvel has finally brought that story to a close. Fittingly, they're doing it with two new, interconnected series called Fall of the House X and Rise of the Powers of X. The X-Men have their final stand against their foe in Orchis, and fans of the hero will find out if the new mutant nation can survive or they are destined to be hunted and eternally feared.

As if that wasn't dramatic enough, they also decided to make the first big showdown between Wolverine and Sabretooth in the Krakoan era. He will take place in a new story called Wolverine: The Sabretooth War.

When those stories end in the summer of 2024, Marvel's executive editor Tom Brevoort jumps from the Avengers line to spearhead a new direction for the X-Books. So far, little is known about what Marvel has planned for the X-Men at this point.

January 2024 also marked the true beginning of Marvel's new Ultimate Universe imprint. The new Ultimate line is not a direct continuation of the old one, but the goal is the same; to give readers fresh, updated takes on iconic characters unbound by decades of continuity. In Ultimate Spider-Man he appears older, married Peter Parker who is just becoming Spider-Man for the first time. The Ultimate line also includes Black Panther and the Ultimate X-Men.

Marvel usually kicks off the summer season with a big crossover event, and 2024 is no exception. This year's big crossover is Blood Hunt, from the writer Jed McKay and artists Pepe Laraza. When the world is trapped in eternal night, the vampire hunter Blade must gather the Avengers, from Doctor Strange and Spider-Man to save humanity from the vampire hordes. Blood Hunt will be released as a limited series, but expect many tie-ins and spin-offs as this conflict expands to encompass the entire Marvel Universe.

Marvel also has a lot of surprises in store for the Star Wars line as the Dark Droids crossover comes to an end.
