In the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), the hearings of the suspects who were arrested today in a major operation of the Special Police Department (SPO) on suspicion of being part of a criminal organization began this evening.
Former commander of the Podgorica police Ivan Stamatović he is on the list for arrest in the SPO action led by SDT, while inspectors are still looking for his suspended colleague Nebojma Bulgarian.
Stamatović worked in the sector managed by the former assistant director of the Police Administration Zoran Lazović.
Among those arrested in this operation are a former police special officer Vladimir Bajčeta and an officer of the Police Directorate Milan Popovic, who worked in the Kotor police. Arrested and taken to the SDT for questioning was i Tihomir Adzic from Podgorica.
Bajčeta is the former bodyguard of Duško Šarić, the brother of the alleged head of the Balkan drug cartel, Darko Šarić.
Officers of the Special Police Department, according to the same information, are conducting that operation in the territory of Podgorica, Cetinje and Kotor.
Those arrested are suspected of having worked closely with the criminal clan of Kavac.
In the same action two days ago, an officer of the Police Search Unit, Goran Stojanović, was arrested.
"The investigators are targeting those who are suspected of making illegal contacts through the Sky application," said a Vijesti source yesterday.
The police searched the houses of the arrested colleagues.
According to the information of Vijesta, several businessmen belonging to the Kavačac criminal clan are among those arrested.
The cases in which several policemen are expected to be arrested were formed after the last delivery of the transcripts of the conversations conducted through the encrypted application arrived at the SDT from Europol.
The State Prosecutor and SDT spokesman Vukas Radonjić announced that the measures and actions taken by the SPO at the order of the SDT today and in the previous days are the result of several months of work and planned and coordinated actions of the SDT and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation - Europol.
