Business partners and godfathers, Pljevljak Duško Šarić and the current head of the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG) Nikola Peković, left the gambling business.
After half a year of holding the majority of the shares of the Podgorica company "Luca S Bet", registered for gambling and betting, which runs a chain of betting shops, the two have not owned 33 percent of the shares since March, according to the Central Registry of Business Entities.
They bought the company at the beginning of September 2020, and from the year before last they formally started a partnership in the hotel business. In 2019, Mlađi Šarić became a partner of Peković in the company "Spencer & Hill Team", which manages the "Mediteran" hotel complex in Vičići.
Duško is the brother of Darko Šarić, who is on trial before the Court of Appeal in Belgrade in the retrial for smuggling almost six tons of cocaine.
Sarić has already been sentenced twice in this proceeding. In 2015, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but that sentence was overturned, and three years later, in a repeated trial, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison...
For years, it was speculated that the "Mediteran" hotel was controlled by the Šarić brothers, while it was owned by Budva businessman Blaž Dedić.
Since September 12, 2019, Duško Šarić has half of the share capital in the company "Spencer & Hill Team", which was founded by Peković, a former NBA star, in 2018, after he bought the hotel.
In 2017, Peković allocated eight and a half million euros for the hotel. At the end of July 2017, he signed a sales contract with the bankruptcy administration of the company "Maestraltours".
Pekovic got married in the hotel four and a half years ago, and his best man was his longtime friend Duško Šarić.
The current president of KSCG previously became the owner of two of the most popular discotheques in Montenegro - Budva's "Top Hill" and Kotor's "Maximus", which, according to his own admission, he bought after the bankruptcy of the companies that managed them.
And while the financial report for this year is awaited, the company of Šarić and Peković made a loss of 569 thousand euros last year managing the "Mediteran" hotel in Vičić. This is written in the financial statement submitted to the Revenue Administration by their partner company "Spencer & Hill Team".
That the corona crisis obviously affected the bad business of these hotel companies is also confirmed by the fact that the company "Spencer & Hill Team" managing the elite complex in 2019 had an excellent business result and earned 737 thousand, and the year before 893.436 euros.
According to the financial statement, Peković and Šarić's company earned 1,7 million euros last year, which is three times less than in 2019.
The company's assets are 4,9 million euros.
Last year, Peković's company "Spencer & Hill", which is the owner and registered in the cadastre of the "Maestral" hotel, also achieved a bad business result. As written in the financial statement, Peković's company made a loss of 1,6 million euros, which brought the total deficit that had accumulated over the years to 4,1 million euros.
The company's assets are now estimated at 20,7 million euros.
Peković and Šarić planned to build a five-star hotel on the site of the aqua park and garage within the "Mediterranean" hotel complex. They were waiting for approval from Budva's chief architect, but he refused to issue it.
In the meantime, the Detailed Urban Plan "Bečići" has been put out of force, so construction is impossible until the Spatial-Urban Plan for the Municipality of Budva is drawn up.
Peković's company filed a request in August 2019, and attached an amended conceptual solution, after the Office of the Chief Architect of Budva refused to issue approval for three towers of 11 and 15 floors each, which are to be built along the Jadranska magistral itself, between the Mediterranean." and “Splendida”.
The company reduced its capacity by a fifth, so the future hotel was supposed to have nine floors in two buildings that would be connected by a glass bridge.
However, the problem arose because the new hotel would be built on the stream, which is owned by the Municipality of Budva, which is why the green light of the local Assembly is necessary.
That decision was never on the agenda.
