The United States of America is our main ally and we are proud that Albanians in Montenegro are the bearers of pro-Western and Euro-Atlantic values, said Nik Đeljošaj, president of Tuzi Municipality and leader of the Albanian Alternative (AA).
According to the AA statement, he said this in Washington during a conversation with Senator Joni Ernst, co-chair for Albanian affairs. "I emphasized the importance of cooperation and excellent friendly relations between the American and Albanian people," said Đeljošaj.
He also stated that he introduced Senator Ernst to the political situation in Montenegro as well as the situation of Albanians and, among other things, the development plans of the Municipality of Tuzi.
"With great recognition for the work of our administration and for the cooperation with our diaspora in the USA. Senator Ernst thanked us for the fact that we are a pro-American people and firmly assured us that she will continue to support the Albanians, as well as all their actions and initiatives," he said. The congresswoman supported all the legitimate demands of the Albanian people in Montenegro
The announcement states that Djeljošaj also met with Haley Stevens, the representative of Michigan's 11th congressional district.
"I talked with the congresswoman about the prosperous progress of our community in the USA, and especially in Michigan, where we see that the second generation of Albanians is also achieving success, reaching the highest peaks of the American political, social and economic scene. Many of them have started investing in Malaysia as well, because our municipality has become a favorite destination for construction and development. The very fact that we increased the budget by 512 percent in four years, adding to that the opening of four factories, says a lot," says Đeljošaj.
The announcement states that Stevens appreciated the work of the Municipality of Tuzi and supported all the legitimate demands of the Albanian people in Montenegro.
"We are always proud to point out our mutual cooperation and age-old friendship with the American people, which has been additionally strengthened through the activities of our diaspora," pointed out Đeljošaj.
