The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced that after yesterday's parliamentary elections, "it is the strongest political entity in parliament, represented by the largest number of MPs".
The press release states that the "Together" coalition, led by that party, won by far the largest number of votes in ten municipalities.
"Despite constant attempts to marginalize the DPS on the political scene of Montenegro, we are pleased to state that the citizens did not fall for the spins and slanders launched by this government, trying to lower the rating of our party by abusing institutions," the announcement states.
They add that the results of the election showed "how unrealistic and euphoric the expectations of certain parties were, that they would manage to gather 2/3 of the support of the citizens".
"And based on that, they change the Constitution and violate the civil concept of the state. Now we see that they are far from their goal. The results of the held elections testify that the policy of the coalition 'Together!' which focuses on state interests, and directs its program goals to constant development, sustainable improvement of the quality of life of citizens and the construction of an efficient state system, has strong support in the electorate".
In the DPS, they expect in the coming period that politics in Montenegro will get "serious actors who will behave responsibly".
"Citizens put their trust in us to stabilize the state and move it in the direction of development, improvement of institutions and improvement of standards. To everyone who takes this job responsibly, does not trade the interests of citizens and the state, they have a partner for conversation in the Democratic Party of Socialists and parties from the coalition" Together'", the announcement concludes.
