The unity and strength of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) will be the only winner of the internal party elections on January 28, it was announced from the forum in Berane.
Dušan Raičević, the candidate for the vice-president of DPS, said that this party has always been the vanguard, the most modern party that created new trends.
"That is precisely why we are here together with you at the beginning of the campaign for internal party elections, which are being held for the first time in Montenegro," Raičević said.
As he said, he is sure that with the energy that is felt in Berane, they can count on a good election result in the following election cycles.
Raičević said that it is the team that wins, as well as that it is the team that legitimizes itself in front of the citizens.
"We have to restore trust. Trust in each other, and trust in the citizens, which is necessary for us to be the backbone of the government again," Raičević said.
As he said, it is evidence that in the past three years, Montenegro has been facing serious challenges and that these challenges are getting bigger and bigger.
Raičević stated that DPS is not only a policy, but also a system of functioning of the state.
The candidate for the vice-president of the DPS, Elvir Zvrko, said that the DPS is a civil, anti-fascist and state-building party, which will never be in opposition to the state.
"What separates us from the others is that we are an emancipatory party. We are the port and forerunner of all achievements of Montenegro", said Zvrko.
As he said, they know that they can bring Montenegro into the EU and are convinced that that time will come soon.
"Just as 1996 and 2006 once seemed far away, so perhaps the year 2020 seemed far away to someone. "They predicted our end, but we are still here, strong, which is confirmed by the crowd tonight," said Zvrko.
He stated that the DPS showed that it knows how to act from the opposition and they started to make changes - intra-party elections.
Abaz Dizdarević, candidate for party vice-president, said that the role of DPS is emancipatory.
"Just as we worked to emancipate people, to make them realize that it is important to have their own country and take responsibility, we also took care of the security of our country, so we became a member of the NATO alliance and brought Montenegro to the door of the European Union (EU)". said Dizdarević.
He said that today their opponents have taken those achievements as the key ideological matrix for their actions.
Dizdarević pointed out that the civic concept of Montenegro must not be abandoned at any cost.
"The DPS is a beacon of civic Montenegro, as opposed to the clerical one that they have been trying to impose and oppose for years. This is not a state of coexistence, but a state of true life with each other. This party, our politics, offer exactly that kind of politics - emancipatory," said Dizdarević.
The candidate for the vice-president of the DPS, Jevto Eraković, congratulated the people of Beran for their perseverance in the previous years in the defense of an independent, sovereign, European, civil and anti-fascist Montenegro.
"I congratulate you on that and on your courage for showing how to defend Montenegro at all addresses. It's not easy to do in Berane, that's why it has a special weight," said Eraković.
As he said, Berane has been ruled by an interest group that has done nothing for their town for ten years.
"Our team in this municipality is made up of people who are our pride, and represent the true heirs of Beran and Vasojevic sages and heroes," said Eraković.
He believes that the country is in such a situation where some imaginary values are much more important than essential and real values.
"Unfortunately, what can be done for one's city and country is not worth it, but what can be done against one's city and country is appreciated. However, true values always win in the end. Be sure that it will be the same with Berane and with all of Montenegro, and that we will win in the end," said Eraković.
He pointed out that the DPS showed that it can preserve the foundations of the state even through opposition activities and that they brought down two governments.
"I am convinced that a new stage is coming in the life of DPS and in the life of our Montenegro. The first step is the organization of direct elections in which we will choose the leadership in a different way and embark on new, sure victories for the DPS, because only we can put the country back on the road to the EU and save it from decay," said Eraković.
Ivan Vuković, a candidate for vice-president of the DPS, said that he is very proud to belong to that party, because, as he assessed, all the good things that happened in the past three decades are related to the results of the DPS.
"Everything we did, we did to strengthen the foundation of Montenegro. And now it can be seen that we have built strong foundations for the state, and we have to be proud of that," said Vuković.
He said that everyone should be proud of the results achieved.
"Even when we were in power and now when we act from the opposition, we didn't bow our heads, we didn't give in, we didn't suffer from inferiority complexes. No one from the region is allowed to shout at us in order to reduce the ringing on the phone. It's not DPS," Vuković said.
As he said, DPS is the only party in Montenegro that found the strength to admit some things, that it could and had to do things differently.
"You will never hear such a message from others. And that kind of self-criticism and awareness that we could and can do better also separates us from the political competition. We have to see each other more often, talk more often, because there is no one to win this battle but all of us together," concluded Vuković.
