The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) held a forum in Žabljak, in the continuation of the campaign for internal party elections, after which they announced that direct elections would increase intra-party democracy, as well as that DPS membership would have a decisive influence on the creation of party policy.
DPS members from Žabljak were presented with the candidates for vice president of that party.
"For the first time, intra-party elections are in front of us, which are organized in an immediate manner. It is you, as the members who are the most responsible for all the election results that the DPS has continuously achieved so far, that you have been given the opportunity to choose the leadership that will represent the party in these elections, which in my opinion is a serious step forward", said the candidate for of DPS vice-president Dušan Raičević, as announced by that party.
He said that tonight's gathering sends a message that Žabljak "stands on the true values that represent the foundation of Montenegro", that all the forums that were held in the previous days in the cities in the north of our country showed that DPS has, as he assessed, "a large, strong , a strong and tenacious base of members loyal and dedicated to the idea that the party inherits - contemporary, modern, anti-fascist Montenegro".
He also said that DPS represents the system of state management.
"We have witnessed these three previous years that there is no such system and that the state is in a position that is very questionable, and that the values on which modern and modern Montenegro rests have been violated. How and what do you witness that the civic concept, as the greatest value on which Montenegro rests, has collapsed", said Raičević.
He said that the DPS clearly heard what the membership was saying in the previous period, and that it is clear to everyone in the party that they must return to the tried and tested model of continuous communication with their members, activists and generally all citizens of our country.
"You are our strength and it is the synergy of the great people from the Youth Council and our oldest members that will enable DPS to remain the best and strongest political party in Montenegro," Raičević concluded.
Elvir Zvrko, candidate for vice-president of the DPS, told the attendees to always be aware of the fact that the DPS is "a pillar of an independent and independent Montenegro" and that as such it is "the only guarantor of the survival of civil Montenegro".
"Precisely for this reason, the story about the future of DPS is a story about the future of Montenegro. I sincerely and deeply believe that these party elections that we are organizing on January 28 are historic elections. We may not be aware of it at the moment, but rest assured that we are giving homework to other political parties in Montenegro, because these elections are an indicator of democracy within our party. This is a way for DPS to show that it is a party of equal opportunities," Zvrko said, as DPS announced.
He said that the upcoming intra-party elections in the DPS were not organized so that after them someone would emerge as the winner and someone as the loser.
"The only winner will be the Democratic Party of Socialists, and that's why we have to show our unity and our strength, and that we are fully there for each other. That is why we will persist in our plan to achieve our program tasks and goals together and as a team. This is exactly what worries our political opponents", stated Zvrko.
According to that party, at the end of his presentation, he "suggested what must be one of the goals in the coming period" to the members of DPS.
"We are a party that has been growing and changing since its foundation, and these elections are another step in the process of maturing and strengthening our party. Today, when we look at what the alleged liberators have led us to, we also see what challenges we have faced. But we showed our strength and overthrew two governments, and now I'm telling you - we will bring down the third one as well," concluded Zvrko.
Abaz Dizdarević also spoke as a candidate for DPS vice president, who said that the party, while in power, "built a society that was based on the civic concept of the state."
"What a misfortune we bring to this society that has learned to live together, when we have scenes of religious and national hatred. However, this time of adversity in Montenegro is slowly passing. For this reason, we must consolidate among ourselves as much as possible, and our communication must be based on that - not to listen to the membership, but to clearly hear what the members are telling us, so that we can formulate the policy that way", said Dizdarević.
He said that, in order to make Montenegro a better place for future generations to live, the DPS "must be ready to wait for the chance to return to decision-making positions".
"We must not forget the political leaders who made it possible to achieve all those successes in the previous period and who brought our country to the stage of development it was in until 2020. Only this combination and synergy can give the full effect of our party's policy," said Dizdarević.
DPS will hold intra-party elections on January 28, during which they will elect the president and vice-presidents of the party.
