The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) held a forum in Bar, where it was announced that there is no populism and nationalism in the municipalities where that party is in power, but that DPS deals with the development and improvement of citizens' standards.
"At least it is characterized by multi-religious, multinational and multicultural harmony, in addition, for a long period of time this municipality has had a strong local self-government primarily thanks to the DPS. I am happy that recently my friend Dušan Raičević, who very successfully implements the policy of the Democratic Party of Socialists, has been at the head of the municipality and continues the development of Bar", said Elvir Zvrko, candidate for the vice president of DPS, as announced by that party.
He told the members of the DPS in Bar, who attended the event as part of the campaign for the internal party elections, that the party must persist in continuing to lead the municipality in the future.
"In all the municipalities of Beran, Kotor, Budva, Herceg Novi, cities that somehow remained the same as 10-15 years ago in terms of improving the quality of life, the common thing is that the DPS is in the opposition there. That's why we have to stay strong in Bar. , as we are now," said Zvrko.
He added that Bar has a special significance for Montenegro, because, as he assessed, it is a city that is "in a special way the window of our country to the world and not only because of the first radiotelegraph connection, but because Bar is also an economic, cultural and sports center of Montenegro".
The candidate for the vice-president of the DPS, Ivan Vuković, said that "one Montenegro to which we belong means a Montenegro of multi-ethnic harmony, a state of civil values". "It means that no matter what your name and surname are, you can say that this is your country and that you are a first-class citizen. It is a Montenegro that is proud of anti-fascism, that is progressively oriented towards the world and that is not afraid to compete with that world. is the Montenegro that we personify," said Vuković.
In contrast, as he said, "stands that Montenegro which is personified by the current President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić".
"It is Montenegro that is trying to cancel the glorious history of this city and this country. This is being done in order to steal the future from this and the next generations. It is a message that we cannot live well enough from our work, but that we need someone to support us. It is a Montenegro that is closed to the world and to its first neighbors. It is a Montenegro where blood cells are counted. That is all that is an alternative to our policy," said Vuković.
He said that during this campaign for party elections, "they saw what the implementation of that policy means for people all over Montenegro."
"We started from Petnjica and Berane. Nothing has happened in Berane for the last 10 years, since our political competition has been in power there. There is no story of development there, only the story of nationalism, populism and unbearable primitivism prevails. There is no story of projects, how to retain young people, how to open a new perspective of development," Vuković pointed out.
He believes that, in contrast to everything he stated, in the cities where the DPS is in power, there is a completely different atmosphere and situation.
"But when you sit with Samir Agović, Petar Smolović, Jugoslav Jakić or Dušan Raičević, you only hear about that - how to open a new water supply, a new playground or a new project, and in the final, how to open a new development perspective. that the best example of all this is the municipality of Bar," concluded Vuković.
Abaz Dizdarević, also a candidate for the vice-president of DPS, pointed out to those present the great similarities and specificities between Bijelo Polje, where he comes from, and Bar.
"The similarity between Bijelo Polje and Bar is precisely the synergistic effect of the association of people of different religions and nations. They are cities of harmony and I am glad that we managed to preserve the northern and southern gates of Montenegro," said Dizdarević, adding that these are cities in which "were permeated by various cultures, but in which people were always by each other's side".
"We had big challenges and the biggest ones since independence, but it was this component that tied us together - it made us stay on the sidelines of civil, multi-confessional and European Montenegro," he added.
Dizdarević also referred to the situation in the country in the past three and a half years.
"Previous years were marked by numerous problems. The key problems related to all the achievements that we all achieved in the previous three decades, which above all concern multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony. Unfortunately, they diverted us from the European path, while we were the leaders of the region and the best example of progress in European integration," said Dizdarević.
He believes that the "collapse of those values", which, as he assessed, DPS stood for, is something that characterized the previous four years.
"There has been a kind of regression, because we are going back to some beginnings of the nineties. These are difficult and gloomy times, but it is not a surprise because this is a policy that is trying to reactivate the politics of the nineties. It is up to us to stand up to them and overthrow them from power , and then let's continue to build Montenegro on the concept of civil society, and not on clericalization," said Dizdarević.
He said that, during the period of DPS rule, the minority peoples "achieved the greatest degree of freedom in the history of Montenegro", while today "menacing tones are heard from the streets and squares in various cities throughout our country".
"Now it has moved to the Parliament of Montenegro. A few days ago, we had the opportunity to hear chauvinistic insults, the likes of which were never heard before, not even in the nineties," Dizdarević concluded.
Jevto Eraković also spoke as a candidate for DPS vice president.
"It seems to me that I have never made a mistake until now, and I am convinced that I will not make a mistake tonight either. When you visit Montenegro, that first feeling when you enter the hall where our members and supporters are, tells what awaits our party in the future period in that city Based on entering this hall, and the energy and positive wave that washed over us in it, I can say that the future of DPS is safe and certain both in Bar and in Montenegro," said Eraković.
He said that Bar "continually achieves good results", that it is a city that respects diversity and which, as he assessed, in the true sense inherits the idea of civic Montenegro, without which "we have no future for our country".
"Thanks to such a policy that was in place in the previous period, we achieved results. And for these most recent results, we must also thank Danijel Živković, Dušan Raičević, Mladen Đuričić, and Alen Nikezić, as well as all the hard-working activists and you, without whom it was not possible to achieve that. Thank you for everything you have done for Montenegro, because this is an oasis of freedom," said Eraković.
He also stated the reasons why, as he believes, Montenegro is facing great challenges.
"Let's remember after 2006, when we restored statehood, that we started on the path of progress, in education, healthcare, infrastructure development. It seemed to us that we would think in that direction in the future, that we would deal with what we should do to live better, to have better salaries, better conditions for attracting investors,... However, we will face something that is not characteristic of any other country - we have to fight for the preservation of the state that we have painstakingly acquired, thanks to a kind of war that is being waged against Montenegro". said Erakovic, and then concluded:
"Those people who work for the interests of another country and against their own, we will call them nothing but traitors. They are neither our neighbors nor friends who are crazy about different ideas, but they are traitors of a kind who work in the interests of other countries."
The candidate for DPS vice president, Bar Municipality President Dušan Raičević, said that "he is most proud when he is among and with party members in his and their Bar".
"I want to thank you for the continuous support you give to the party, for your participation in the work of the Municipal Committee and to thank you for the support you give me personally. Not because it comes from the level of the Municipal Committee, but because of the fact that I am privileged to be able to to share party struggles together with all of you," Raičević said.
As it was announced, he expressed his respect and gratitude to all party members who supported him and who, as he said, supported his candidacy for the vice-president of the DPS with their signature, apostrophizing that from Bar "in previous times, they often made historical decisions responsible for the future of the city, but also of Montenegro".
"We are facing the first intra-party direct elections where we have decided to give you party members, the people who are most deserving of the successes at the local and state level, the opportunity to decide who are the people who should lead the party in the future . And as you heard, you won't make a mistake whoever you give that support to. We are here to show that we are one team with a common goal, which is to improve the living conditions of all citizens of Montenegro," Raičević said.
According to the DPS, he "pointed out all those facts" which, as they stated, "distinguish that party from other political entities".
"While we were engaged in development, for the past three years we have witnessed a change in that practice. However, no matter how good that practice was in the past three years, I am proud of the fact that we, from the local level, persistently demonstrated how it can and should be done, from the from the central authorities, we received examples of how it should not be done," Raičević said.
He told the members of the DPS to be convinced that the policy that the DPS propagates are development projects and an additional development component related to the quality of life of all citizens in Montenegro.
"We always knew how to provide answers when it was difficult. At least he knew that in 1996, he also knew it in 1999 when NATO missiles were aimed at Montenegro. We kept the peace thanks to a man who always had a vision and who always knew how to implement that vision. He couldn't do it alone, he always had quality people with him, an army of supporters of our policy, and it was on the basis of that support that we brought quality features for the future of Montenegro," Raičević concluded.
