The Assembly of the Municipality of Šavnik adopted this evening at an electronic session the decision on the dismissal of the Municipal Election Commission, the President of the Municipality of Šavnik, Nadežda Kotlica, told "Vijesta"
"Out of 19 DPS and SD councilors, 18 attended the session, while the opposition councilors said yesterday that they will not attend the session because they have no confidence in this way of holding the session. At the session, the prices of communal services were abolished, so the citizens of Šavnik will pay a ten percent lower price compared to the year before. We have extended the term of validity of the Strategic Plan, and as for the election of new members of the MEC, that has been left for tomorrow, when the session will resume at 18 p.m.," said Kotlica.l
As she pointed out, after the end of the session, she contacted the representatives of the opposition parties in order to propose representatives for the new composition of the MEC by 13 p.m. tomorrow.
"In this way, the conditions set by the Government of Montenegro, i.e. the Ministry of Public Administration, have been met and the conditions have been created for the local government to continue functioning normally. We decided to hold an electronic session because of previous events. We wanted to calm tensions and to democratically let's hold a session and solve the newly created situation," said the president of SO Šavnik.
The session was scheduled for Monday, but it was not held because the supporters of the opposition parties entered the assembly hall and refused to leave, pointing out, like the opposition councilors, that the session was illegally scheduled.
The municipality reported the case to the police and the prosecutor's office, and the prosecutor in the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Pljevlja stated that the actions of the persons who were reported to have entered the building of the Municipality of Šavnik without authorization do not constitute the elements of a criminal offense for which prosecution is undertaken under official duty.
The meeting of the SO Šavnik was scheduled after the Government's decision on the local self-governments of Šavnik, Budva and Andrijevica. Last week, the government gave those municipal assemblies a deadline of ten days to fulfill their obligations established by law in order to get out of the government crisis that has been shaking them for a long time. The municipality of Šavnik has been warned that it must take measures against the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) in order to implement the decision of the State Election Commission, which ordered the MEC to make a decision on repeating voting at the polling stations - "Sala SO Šavnik" and "Kafana Kruševica" and adopt a strategic development plan Municipalities.
So far, the State Election Commission has held 60 sessions dedicated to the elections in Šavnik and passed 120 decisions ordering the MEC of Šavnik to make a decision on repeating the elections, which did not happen, because four members of the MEC, out of a total of eight, are from the ranks of the opposition. were against or abstained during the vote.
The elections in Šavnik began on October 23, 2022, when they were held in 13 other municipalities, but after nine repetitions, tearing of ballots, broken ballot boxes, prevention of voting, verbal and physical conflicts, numerous applications, a deadlock was reached - on polling stations in the SO building and in the village of Kruševice, where 541 voters were registered, the elections have not ended.
