Several houses in Rijeka Crnojevića and Crmnica are at risk due to the rising water level of Skadar Lake, the Skadarko Lake National Park announced.
The director of NP Skadarsko jezero Nenad Ivanović and expert associate for relations with local communities Bogdan Maraš visited the settlements on the coast today and the locals whose property is threatened due to the rising water level of the lake.
"During the tour, they determined that a large number of locations were flooded, especially agricultural lands," the NP Skadarko jezero announced.
The locals, as the announcement adds, in the conversation with Ivanović and Maraš, expressed concern for their property if the level of Lake Skadar continues to rise due to bad weather conditions.
"During the conversation with the presidents of the local communities of Rijeka Crnojevića and Crmnica, I found out that certain material damages were also caused, and that the residents are worried about the rise in the water level, which can affect residential buildings as well," Ivanović said.
The NP Skadarsko jezero states that their representatives will continue to visit areas at risk of flooding in the coming period and, in cooperation with the locals, will try to prevent greater material damage.
