The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced that it did not spend more than planned in the period before the parliamentary elections, but that the spending was less by over one million euros
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reacted to the analysis of the NGO MANS entitled "Increased budget spending ahead of the parliamentary elections, the Ministry of Internal Affairs increased the payments of work contracts three times".
The Ministry of Interior pointed out that in June the consumption was 10.750.880,10 euros, which is 1.173.948,37 euros less than the planned and approved consumption for June 2023.
"The spending plan for June 2023 amounted to 11.924.828,47 euros. The spending plan, which was adopted on January 18, 2023, was changed every month after the completion of the actual calculation of wages, because the wages were increased and the monthly warrant was not enough for the payment of gross wages. The Ministry of Finance gave its consent to the amendment of the spending plan for each month," according to the statement of the MUP.
They emphasized that the amount of 8.416.000,00 euros, or 5.821.839,59 euros for net wages, was spent from the total expenditure for gross wages, contributions, and other fees.
"Therefore, of the total expenditure, only EUR 5.821.839,59 refers to net earnings," it added.
"EUR 2.334.820,21 was spent on other expenditures, of which EUR 501.295,81 was spent on court judgments in the compulsory collection procedure," the MUP statement reads.
"These data clearly indicate that the Ministry of the Interior did not spend more than planned in the period before the parliamentary elections, but the consumption was less by more than a million euros. The spending plan changed every month, since we devotedly worked to improve the financial status of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior, whose salaries had not been increased for years," the statement concludes.
