Andrea Marstjepović, member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Bar Municipal Assembly, said that the party will not allow the LNG terminal and the destruction of Crmniče villages, as well as that the development of Bar must be planned on a sustainable basis.

She announced that the Club of Councilors of the DPS, "as by far the strongest political entity in the Bar Municipality Assembly", today sent comments and suggestions to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property on the draft of the Spatial Plan of Montenegro.

"As is well known, the public hearing for this strategically important document was held in Bar, and it was marked by a large attendance and interest in relation to several topics that are of exceptional importance for our municipality, for our citizens, for current and future generations. Respecting all the completely justified remarks of those present at the public debate, two issues caused the greatest interest, namely the construction of the LNG terminal in Bar, as well as the construction of the Bar - Boljare highway, i.e. the route through the villages of Crmnik", says Marstjepović.

"In relation to the LNG terminal construction project, which until now has been accompanied by complete lack of transparency, we have indicated that the construction of an LNG terminal in Bar is unacceptable for our committee, because it is a project that would significantly threaten the safety of the citizens of Bar, which would threaten people's lives due to the very location where it is planned, which would negatively affect the development of tourism as a dominant branch of development, but would also negatively affect the further valorization of the Port of Bar. We are witnesses that the transshipment of copper concentrate and ammonium nitrate has already endangered lives to a sufficient extent people and the environment in the settlement of Stara Ambulanta, and the construction of another such terminal would mean the emigration not only of this settlement, but also of a larger part of the city and suburban settlements, and all of this would have unfathomable consequences for future generations," said the DPS councilor.

Marstjepović said that they are aware of the fact that Bar must be connected by traffic, and that they fully support the strategic decisions on the construction and improvement of traffic infrastructure, expressways, highways and railways.

"However, we express special concern in relation to the planned route of the highway, which, according to the draft Plan, passes through eight Crmnik villages and thus threatens to endanger or destroy their households, religious buildings, cemeteries, large areas of agricultural land, i.e. vineyards. this area is known. That is why we sent an unequivocal remark and request that the developer and the Ministry must move the route of the highway in a conceptual solution in a way that will not devastate the area of Crmnica and all of the above, but that it be planned in a way that will and other areas in its vicinity to enable further development and perspective, and not mean the destruction of existence, tradition and culture," Marstjepović points out.

She said that they also pointed out the importance of creating conditions for the development of rural tourism in the areas of Crmnica, Šestan, Krajina, Mrkojević and Sutorman, defining and improving the water supply area in accordance with the Water Supply Study for Waterless Areas of the Municipality of Bar, but also expressed a clear position that the Spatial Plan It is necessary for Montenegro to completely exclude the possibility of granting new concessions for the exploitation of mineral raw materials - quarries.

"We consider it very important that these, as well as all other remarks and suggestions that were presented at the public hearing, be accepted because this is exactly the 'voice of the people', because only then will the Spatial Plan of Montenegro be a true strategic basis for development, and not a basis for devastation space and the reason for the emigration of the population as originally planned," the announcement concludes.
