Radović: The group is acceptable, Brazil is the favorite

The coach of the Montenegrin basketball team, Boško Radović, was cautious after the draw for the qualification for the Olympic Games.

Montenegro will play next year's qualifiers in Riga, and the rivals in group B are Brazil and Cameroon. In the second group are Latvia, Georgia and the Philippines. The winner of the tournament goes to Paris.

"We drew a group that, I would say, is acceptable. A large number of top national teams are in these qualifications, and the absolute favorite in our group is Brazil. There is also Cameroon. The eventual crossover is somewhat difficult, because the favorite of the second group is Latvia, along with Georgia, and there is also the Philippines. We can also say that we avoided some national teams whose names are above Brazil, such as Greece, but the Brazilians also have many great basketball players in the team from the Euroleague and with NBA experience. Far from being able to threaten them, but definitely, looking at the other potential rivals, we got something the most acceptable," said Radović.

The Board of Directors of the Basketball Association of Montenegro announced today that Radović will remain as a selector until October 2025.

The qualifications are scheduled from July 2 to 7, and the Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
