The Government has formed a Council for Demography which, as announced, will propose concrete measures and activities of importance to the demographic development of the country to the executive power.
The Government made the Decision on the formation of the Council at today's session, on the initiative of the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth, Dragoslav Šćekić.
The announcement states that Šćekić is the head of the Council, while the members of that body will be representatives of all relevant institutions.
Šćekić's Cabinet said that the goals of the Council are to organize activities carried out by state bodies, state administration bodies, local self-governments, local administrations and other competent institutions, to monitor priorities, dynamics and implementation deadlines and evaluate the achieved results.
"The Council will submit to the Government and ministries initiatives, proposals, opinions and analyzes related to the overall movement of the population and changes in some of its structures and changes in economic, social, cultural, educational, health and other indicators that affect certain components of demographic development" , the announcement states.
It is added that the Council will propose to the Government concrete measures and activities of importance for demographic development.
"Such as measures and activities related to the improvement of the living standards of citizens in rural areas, improvement of conditions and opportunities for employment, availability and quality of education," the announcement says.
Šćekić's cabinet said that a Working Group for the preparation of the First National Strategy for Demography will be formed.
As stated, the Working Group will include officials who will prepare that document with an emphasis on the problem of emigration of the population outside the borders of the state, as well as migrations that take place within it.
"First of all, on movements from rural to urban areas, but also movements towards the central part of Montenegro", says the announcement.
