From a personal perspective, as someone who remembers the sound of airplanes and explosions that tore the sky and the ground, I want to believe that Montenegro, although through pain and suffering, found a way to build a better future, announced the Minister of Defense of Montenegro, Dragan Krapović.
The Ministry of Defense announced that today, on the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Krapović laid wreaths at the "Milovan Šaranović" barracks in Danilovgrad and "Marko Miljanov Popović" in Podgorica.
The Ministry of Defense said that in the barracks in Danilovgrad and Podgorica, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarevic and State Secretary Marko Markovic, wreaths were laid as a pledge that what happened will not be forgotten.
"From a personal perspective, as someone who remembers the sound of airplanes and explosions that tore the sky and the ground, I want to believe that Montenegro, although through pain and suffering, found a way to build a better future. We refused to allow hatred and fear to paralyze us, choosing instead the path of peace and cooperation,'' said Krapović.
He emphasized that today, that decision defines our strategic and value aspirations, and that Montenegro has become a credible member of NATO.
"We have become a credible member of the North Atlantic Alliance, taking the helm of destiny into our own hands. This membership is an affirmation of our determination to build a society based on universal values, multi-ethnic harmony, security, peace and prosperity for all citizens of Montenegro," Krapović said.
