Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said that the Government is entering into a strategic partnership with the French company EDF Energy.

He said at the press conference that this is the company that initiated the green transition 60 years ago.

"This is a consequence of the conversation with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, when we agreed on four areas with which we will cooperate. I will remind you that these are defense, the second pillar is health, the third is about ecology and the last is infrastructure," Spajić said.

He pointed out that the French have experience in that sector, especially technical, which Montenegro, as a small country, does not have.

"As for the energy potential of Montenegro, we have a lot of wind potential, solar potential, and that story is beautiful and we can turn it into something that is tangible. However, without a large source of energy, this is not possible," said Minister of Energy Saša Mujović.

He said that it is time to build a new, serious source of electricity.

"We have several projects: Hydroelectric power plant Kruševo and on the Ćehotina river... There was also talk about Komarnica, but this government and the prime minister want to be responsible towards the institutions of this country and a significant group of people who expressed doubts about the feasibility of the Komarnica project. We all need to be producers and consumers of electricity, and this kind of partnership will enable us," said Mujović.

When asked what is the interest of France in this partnership, Spajić said that in itself this business might not make that much sense for them.

"However, this is a strategic partnership aimed at developing long-term relations between the two countries".

Spajić said that EDF declared that they will be minority partners and that they do not want to be someone who will extract profit.

"They want long-term cooperation. We immediately enter into a strategic partnership with them. As for partnership in the formal sense, I hope that the time will come for that as well," said the Prime Minister.
