Milatović: I will not be an active participant in the elections in front of the political entity of which I am one of the leaders

As the president of Montenegro, I have the responsibility to represent all citizens, which is why I made the decision not to be an active participant in the campaign for the upcoming elections in front of the political entity (Movement Europe Now) of which I am one of the leaders, said Jakov Milatović.

The President of Montenegro said this in an invitation letter for a meeting to representatives of political entities participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The meeting will be held on May 29, in Villa "Gorica", starting at 10 am.

"As one of the first activities in the country, after taking office as the President of Montenegro, I want to contribute to the political dialogue on key topics for the further development of our country, which will be intensified after the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 11, 2023.

In addition to starting an inter-party dialogue, the goal of this meeting is to improve the political environment in which elections are held and to strengthen trust in the electoral process.

In addition, the meeting will send a strong message of the commitment of all electoral lists to make a full contribution to the further democratic maturation of Montenegrin society by promoting various program offers and implementing a fair campaign.

I believe that the citizens of Montenegro deserve this act of political leaders' maturity and determination to demonstrate a new type of political culture and democratic capacity through dialogue and fair political relations, so that we can send a good message to both the citizens of Montenegro and our international partners.

As the President of Montenegro, I have the responsibility to represent all citizens, which is why I made the decision not to be an active participant in the campaign for the upcoming elections in front of the political entity of which I am one of the leaders.

Montenegrin society shows readiness to create an environment in which dialogue will not be the exception, but the rule. Encouraged by these impulses, I want to send a clear message from the position of the President of Montenegro that the public interest is my priority, and that all my activities will be aimed at improving Montenegrin society and the image of Montenegro in the international community.

Aware that a stable political system can only be built by the joint efforts of all benevolent entities, I expect you to understand my invitation as the first step on this path," wrote Milatović.
