The councilors of the Municipal Assembly (SO) of Šavnik, from the ruling DPS-SD coalition, at tonight's electronic session of the SO, voted on the decision to shorten the mandate of the local parliament.
Opposition councilors did not attend the session.
"This is a forced decision as a reaction to the unconstitutional decision of the Government on the introduction of forced administration and the violent takeover of power," the President of the Municipality of Savnik, Jugoslav Jakić, told "Vijesta".
Today, the government made a decision on the introduction of forced administration in Šavnik and Andrijevica.
According to Jakić, the decision of the Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj to introduce compulsory administration has no basis in the law and all the talk related to the functioning of the local administration in Šavnik is, as Jakić said, just "throwing dust in the eyes of the citizens".
"All this is a political measure to forcibly take over power. If that is not true, we have dissolved the Assembly, so let them show good will and solve the situation in Šavnik. The Municipality and the Assembly of the Šavnik Municipality have fulfilled all the demands that were addressed to them in order to compulsory administration was avoided and in the end the government resorted to a political decision like this, which represents a gross interference in the rights of citizens to the independence of local administration," Jakić pointed out.
As he said, Minister Dukaj's statement that the municipality of Savnik did not adopt a strategic plan is incorrect.
"At the last session, we adopted the Strategic Plan. It is also incorrect that the Ministry had any objection to the work of the local administration, until the last one. Minister Dukaj's story is beyond all reality and, as I have said many times, I invite him to confront his opinions publicly and the facts, to see who is right. With today's move, they have only exposed their intentions, which is an illegal takeover of power," said the President of the Municipality.
He said that the Assembly did everything it could when it came to the Municipal Election Commission (MEC).
"We elected a new Municipal Election Commission, dismissed the members who did not allow the voting for the remaining two seats to end. If the minister expects us to use some medieval methods to make the MEC make decisions that suit him, that will not happen. It seems to me that the essence of everything what is happening in relation to Šavnik on the part of the Government or a total level of ignorance or evil intent. They make decisions and do not think about the consequences of tomorrow," said Jakić.
When asked what if the Government does not recognize tonight's decision of the councilors, Jakić said: "Even if that happens. We have seen everything, the only thing that is still missing. But we will have an answer to that as well."
