Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the semi-finals of the Masters in Miami tonight, after defeating the second player in the world, Carlos Alcaraz, after two sets, 6:2, 6:4.
Dimitrov, the 12th tennis player in the world, won after one hour and 34 minutes.
In the second and eighth games of the first set, he broke Alcaraz's serve and took the lead in the match.
With a break in the fourth game of the second set, Dimitrov led 3:1, and Alkaras managed to return the break for 3:4. After that, the tennis players won games on their serves until the 10th, when the Bulgarian tennis player made a new break and after the first match point, he qualified for the semi-finals.
It was his first win against a top-five player on the ATP list since he defeated Switzerland's Roger Federer at the US Open in 2019.
Dimitrov will play against German tennis player Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.
Italian Janik Siner and Russian Danil Medvedev will play in the second semi-final. It is a repeat of last year's final, in which Medvedev was better.
American tennis player Daniel Collins reached the finals of the tournament in Miami after defeating Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova 6:3, 6:2.
She will play in the final against Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan, who defeated Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6:4, 0:6, 7:6.
Last year, Ribakina lost to the Czech Petra Kvitova in the final.
